Find your ideal body weight using the Robinson formula based on height and gender.
The Ideal Weight Calculator estimates your ideal body weight using the Robinson formula, one of the most widely cited methods in clinical settings. Enter your height in centimeters and select your gender to see your ideal weight, plus the healthy BMI weight range for comparison. Unlike BMI alone, the Robinson formula accounts for gender differences in body composition and provides a single target weight that you can use as a personal benchmark.
1. Enter your height in centimeters.
2. Select your gender.
3. Get your ideal weight (Robinson formula), BMI ideal range min/max, and how far you are from the ideal.
Robinson Formula (1983):
Male: 52 kg + 1.9 kg per inch over 5 feet
Female: 49 kg + 1.7 kg per inch over 5 feet
BMI Ideal Range:
Min = 18.5 x (height_m)^2
Max = 24.9 x (height_m)^2
Example: Male, 175 cm (5'9")
Inches over 5 feet: 9 inches
Ideal weight = 52 + 1.9 x 9 = 52 + 17.1 = 69.1 kg
BMI min = 18.5 x 1.75^2 = 56.6 kg
BMI max = 24.9 x 1.75^2 = 76.2 kg
